Bone Marrow Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy

Bone Marrow Derived Mesenchymal Stem Cell Therapy

Bone marrow stem cells are usually taken from the marrow of the iliac crest of the pelvic bone, before being taken to a lab to separate the stem cell sample.

The process of extracting stem cells from bone marrow starts with one of our doctors using a needle to extract the stem cells from your bone marrow. The procedure involves the physician cleaning and numbing the hip area, then inserting a needle into the iliac crest. Bone marrow is aspirated using a special syringe, and that sample is sent to a laboratory. Once there, the aspirate is spun in a machine for 10-15 minutes, allowing a concentrated stem cell sample to be separated.
