Scoliosis

Scoliosis Diagnosis and Treatment

Scoliosis is a condition in which the spine is curved in an abnormal way, creating a “C” or “S” shape. Causes and treatments vary from patient to patient.

The curvature of the spine that characterizes scoliosis typically affects the mid- or lower back, though mid-back scoliosis is more common. Most cases of scoliosis do not have an identifiable cause, and those cases are called idiopathic scoliosis.

Treatments for this spine condition are based on the cause (when known), the degree and position of the spinal curve, and the patient’s age. Our physicians can help diagnose your scoliosis and outline a treatment plan.
