Austin Sports Medicine’s team of orthopedic surgeons are Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. In addition, each of the doctors has been fellowship-trained in Sports Medicine. More specifically, after medical school, internship, and a five-year orthopaedic surgery residency, each of these physicians elected to gain additional training in their chosen sub-specialty, Sports Medicine, through participation in a Fellowship Training Program. While they are orthopaedic surgeons, able to diagnose and treat all diseases and injuries of the musculoskeletal system, they specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of overuse and traumatic injuries of the knee and shoulder.
Dr. Fernandez holds two board certifications including the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation and the American Board of Electrodiagnostic Medicine. As a non-surgical specialist, he treats a variety of muscle and soft tissue injuries, including the spine.
